April 2026 New Living Wage Employers

April 2026 New Living Wage Employers

We have certified 9 New Living Wage Employers across BC!

With their employers’ commitment to providing a Living Wage, direct employees and numerous contracted workers can experience greater financial security. The assurance that basic needs can now be met alleviates significant stress, and takes a step towards addressing affordability for workers.

Growth in Numbers and Sectors

This month we have certified Living Wage Employers in different sectors and communities. From a local business that works with children and youth like Victoria Kids Out and About, to local councils like Community Futures North Okanagan, to 100% Indigenous Owned business like the Coastal Nations Fisheries.

We are proud to celebrate these organizations for stepping up and ensuring their teams earn a wage that reflects the true cost of living. Their example is paving the way for a stronger, more equitable workforce in BC. We encourage more employers to join this growing movement and make a meaningful difference for their employees and their families.

Providing above paying wages is what I strive for. Our job is hard and many times, thankless. Paying what I feel the staff deserves shows my appreciation. I also treat them often to lunches, trips, and other functions because I adore them all and cannot run a successful business without my team. Being able to publicly display that we pay a Living Wage will show the pride I have in my team.” Janine Bolton, Victoria Kids Out and About

It means to honour and respect your employees and to see them as complex human beings and not just "human resources". It means to value what your team brings to the table and compensate them accordingly.” Sandra Manow, Coastal Nations Fisheries LP

We want to make sure that our wages are designed so employees can meet their basis needs (and more) without financial stress. It aligns with our mission of improving sustainable, meaningful employment and community well-being / strengthening the local economy. As an organization we highlight competitive competition, wellness programs and a supportive environment and we want to set an example for other employers in the region.”  Linda de Groot, Community Futures North Okanagan
