Employer Spotlight: Briteweb

Why paying a Living Wage matters at Briteweb

In this short blog, Ali Pearce, Director of Operations at Briteweb explains why they became a Living Wage Employer, and the benefits they’ve found from being part of the program.

Briteweb is a B Corp certified creative agency that builds new possibilities for social impact organizations that are changing the world for the better. We clarify and amplify our clients’ authentic stories, so that they can show up in the digital world as powerfully as they do on the ground. We develop inspiring brands, beautiful websites, and foundational systems that set them up for growth and transformation.

We have been a Living Wage Employer since 2022. Working in the social impact space means that we believe in being the change you want to see in the world. And a world we want to see is one where every employee is supported to not only live, but to thrive.

Since becoming a Living Wage Employer, we’ve noticed real, positive changes in our workplace. Living our values is at the heart of everything we do, which means we prioritize putting our people first. Which is why, since the beginning, we’ve been striving to raise the bar for our team by providing wages that are above industry standard. Becoming Living Wage certified only furthers our commitment to fostering a sustainable, supportive and equitable work environment.

As a certified Living Wage employer, we’re holding ourselves accountable to meeting or exceeding the regional living wage for our employees and contractors. Plus, as a Certified B Corporation, we’re also held to high standards of accountability and transparency on factors such as employee benefits and wages.

Paying a Living Wage doesn’t just benefit our team, it strengthens the local economy and helps families thrive. We’re proud to be part of a movement that’s making a difference across BC and Ontario.

We encourage others to join us in becoming Living Wage Employers. Together, we can create a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone.

Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are now over 450 Living Wage Employers across BC.

The living wage is the hourly amount someone needs to earn to pay for basic essentials like food and rent, it doesn’t include paying off debt or saving for retirement. The Living Wage for Vancouver is now $27.85/hour.
