Why paying a Living Wage matters at Traction Rec
In this short blog, Linda Wong, Senior Director, People at Traction Rec, explains why the organization became a Living Wage Employer and the benefits they’ve found from being part of the program.

Traction Rec empowers customers with great technology. Built on the Salesforce platform, their technology enables YMCA’s, Jewish Community Centers (JCC’s), Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and The Salvation Army Kroc Centers to deliver their services and achieve their missions with a best-in-class CRM solution. At the heart of Traction Rec is the team’s desire to support non-profit community centers and the amazing good they do.
Traction Rec has been recognized by Salesforce.org as Nonprofit Sales Partner of the Year, ISV Partner of the Year, featured as a leading growth technology company on the Ready to Rocket List, and was named to Deloitte's Technology Fast 50™ in Canada and is a Technology Fast 500™ program winner in North America.
Traction Rec has been a Living Wage Employer since 2024. Becoming certified was an important step for the organization to formally solidify its commitment to paying people a fair wage that allows employees to focus on their lives and their work, rather than financial stress. While Traction Rec is a distributed company with employees across Canada and the United States, 84.6% of the team is based in Canada, and 58% are located in British Columbia, where living wage rates are among the highest in the country. Certification helps ensure compensation practices reflect the realities of where employees live.
Since becoming a Living Wage Employer, Traction Rec has noticed real, positive changes in the workplace. “When people are paid fairly, they’re able to show up more fully, both at work and in their personal lives,” says Linda Wong, Senior Director, People at Traction Rec. “It creates the foundation for people to thrive, which ultimately benefits the team, customers, and the communities they serve.” In addition to paying a living wage, Traction Rec offers comprehensive benefits designed to support employee wellbeing, growth, and balance.
Paying a Living Wage doesn’t just benefit employees, it strengthens the local economy and helps families thrive. Traction Rec is proud to be part of efforts that are making a difference across communities. This commitment aligns closely with the organization’s broader mission and its core value of Impact, which focuses on giving back to communities. Through its Impact Days program, every employee receives two paid days each year to volunteer in their local community, supporting causes that matter to them.
Traction Rec encourages other employers to join them in becoming Living Wage Employers. Together, a fairer, more sustainable future is possible for everyone.
Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are now over 450 Living Wage Employers across BC.
The living wage is the hourly amount someone needs to earn to pay for basic essentials like food and rent; it doesn’t include paying off debt or saving for retirement. The Living Wage for Metro Vancouver is now $27.85 an hour.
