Employer Spotlight: Francl Architecture

Why paying a Living Wage matters at Francl Architecture

In this short blog, Monica Moran, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Francl Architecture explains why they became a Living Wage Employer, and the benefits they’ve found from being part of the program.

Francl Architecture Inc. is an architectural firm based in Vancouver that employs a diverse team of approximately 80 professionals. Together, we work together on a wide variety of projects, including residential, community, and infrastructure developments across the province. The workplace culture is characterized by a strong focus on collaboration, quality, and respect for all team members, fostering a supportive atmosphere for creativity and innovation.

We have been a Living Wage Employer since 2025. However, we are happy to note that before officially becoming a living wage employer, we had achieved our goal of providing all direct employees with a living wage. This accomplishment reflects our long-standing commitment to fair compensation and employee wellbeing. At Francl, in addition to vacation days, we provide a paid day off for employees’ birthdays and 3 paid professional development days.

Paying a Living Wage doesn’t just benefit our team, it strengthens the local economy and helps families thrive. We’re proud to be part of a movement that’s making a difference across Vancouver. We have an annual Silent Auction in the office where staff donate items or services to be auctioned. All donations are for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Francl matches up to $3000!

We encourage others to join us in becoming Living Wage Employers. Together, we can create a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone.

Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are now over 500 Living Wage Employers across BC.

The living wage is the hourly amount someone needs to earn to pay for basic essentials like food and rent, it doesn’t include paying off debt or saving for retirement. The Living Wage for Metro Vancouver is $27.85 an hour.
