Why paying a Living Wage matters at Lincoln Construction
In this short blog, Terri Lincoln, COO from Lincoln Construction explains why they became a Living Wage Employer, and the benefits they’ve found from being part of the program.

We operate a general contracting firm on the Sunshine Coast, with a focus on hiring local staff and subtrades that meet our company values of quality, innovation, sustainability and commitment. We have approximately 30 staff that work along the entire Sunshine Coast and remote islands.
We have been a Living Wage Employer since 2025, though our commitment to fair pay began much earlier. Since our company’s incorporation in 2018, we have consistently aligned our wages with Living Wage rates.
Completing our official Living Wage Certification last year marked an important milestone for us. It reflects our ongoing belief in recognizing the value of our team by providing compensation that supports not only financial stability, but also overall well-being and a healthy standard of living.
Paying a living wage contributes to a more engaged and positive workplace, fosters stronger relationships within our team, and supports long-term business stability. It enables our team members to pursue their passions while remaining meaningfully connected to our company’s goals.
In addition to fair wages, we offer fully employer-paid extended health and dental benefits, and we are currently launching a group RRSP program to further support our team’s financial well-being and future planning.
Paying a Living Wage doesn’t just benefit our team, it strengthens the local economy and helps families thrive. We’re proud to be part of a movement that’s making a difference across the Sunshine Coast. We strongly believe in the connections we build within our communities and actively participate in opportunities to support locally. We have donated our services to causes within organizations that include One Straw Society, Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army and are donors and volunteers for the Gibsons Harbour Cleanup as part of World Cleanup Day.
We encourage others to join us in becoming Living Wage Employers. Together, we can create a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone.
Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are now over 500 Living Wage Employers across BC.
The living wage is the hourly amount someone needs to earn to pay for basic essentials like food and rent, it doesn’t include paying off debt or saving for retirement. The Living Wage for The Sunshine Coast is now 26.65 an hour.
