Today is Halena Seiferling's last day as Campaign Organizer. Read below for a message of thanks from Halena, and contact us at [email protected] until a new Campaign Organizer is in place.
My time at the Living Wage for Families Campaign has been a joy. In the past year and a half, more than 50 Living Wage Employers have joined the Campaign, including six local governments who are in the process of implementing living wage policies. We have established strong relationships with community partners across the province to calculate local living wages for more regions of BC. We have also implemented our three-year Participatory Action Research (PAR) project to ensure our work is informed by those with lived experience of working poverty. Further, we have deepened connections with many unions, employers, and other community allies, and - most importantly - we are continuing to show that workers deserve a living wage to be able to afford a decent standard of living.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this Campaign and who continues to advocate for higher wages, better protections for workers, and more investments into public goods and services. There is a long way yet to go to achieve our vision of every working British Columbian making a living wage, but the Campaign continues to grow and gain momentum thanks to the many voices across the province calling for these changes. I look forward to following the Campaign in the years to come and cheering on future successes!
Until a new Campaign Organizer is in place, please contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to expanding and deepening our work in 2020 and beyond.
