The Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2023 is back!
Organized and hosted by Out on Screen, VQFF will be running from Aug 10-20, 2023, in person and online (BC-wide)!
With the start of Vancouver Pride month, we wanted to showcase one of our Certified Living Wage Employers, Out on Screen. Additionally, we wanted to congratulate them for recertifying and committing to providing their workers a living wage for 2023.
The Vancouver Queer Film Festival, run by Out on Screen, is a place where curated films are able to illuminate transformative moments in the lives of queer, trans, and Two Spirit people, convene meaningful dialogue around issues relevant to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities today, and catalyze change locally and globally. Not only do they work with other community partners to showcase such a large platform for the queer community in Vancouver, but they also provide year-round programming while engaging youth throughout the province to play a role in a vibrant art environment. The Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2023 is running from Aug 10- 20, in person and online BC-wide. With multiple screenings, events, and parties happening, VQFF 2023 is more than just a film festival.
The living wage is the hourly amount someone needs to earn to cover basic expenses. The Living Wage for Metro Vancouver is $24.08 an hour.
“We’re delighted that Out on Screen has continued to commit to being a Living Wage Employer. We hope it encourages other employers to continue within the Living Wage movement. Paying a living wage is good for workers, employers and the local community” said Anastasia French, Living Wage for Families BC
Certifying as a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary commitment employers make to invest in their communities and local economies. There are now nearly 400 Living Wage Employers in BC.
